CHANGES AND MIXED MEDIA WIP

I am so obsessed with mixed media art at the moment. I live and breathe it. Which is a bit scary sometimes when I can't get to sleep because it's all I am thinking about. I know it is definitely something that I want to pursue and hopefully make a small business out of someday. You will probably notice a few changes around my blog and my Etsy store as I find my feet and try new things. My blog name is no longer Raggedy Ruckus but, Dolls-n-Art by Michelle. You will probably notice a few changes with my artwork as well as I find my niche in this crazy, fast moving art world. I am so excited about these changes and can't wait to begin my new journey.

I have been working on a new mixed media piece and thought I would show my work in progress. I am quite happy with how it is taking shape so far. I am even a little nervous to continue just in case I wreck what I have already done. I will keep going though cause it obviously needs to be finished.

Stage 1 - I glued down different designed card stock with gel medium and then seal with the same gel medium

Stage 2 and 3 - I painted the background using washes of acrylic paint and then started painting my design onto the piece

It is an 8"x10" flat canvas and I am using card stock, acrylic paint, and a graphite pencil.

Don't ya just love working with washes, Shell? So much fun! I believe you will just keep getting better and better with your artwork...I'm already impressed and I'm not just saying that because I'm your Mum. ;)

I like how this piece is taking shape and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Love,
Mum xo

Hello!!

I love that you are experimenting and excited about it's process. I love love mix media, it's a lot of fun. I too enjoy playing with the colors. I like to get buck wild with the images I create. I love your paintings and your dolls. I'm so happy to meet another awesome artist.

I really want to try mixed media some day. Your mom does such gorgeous art and you obviously have that talent also. My hesitation is I know once I start I'll get hooked and I'm trying to get rid of stuff, not acquire more, ha. If I was young though...you bet, I'd be up to my neck in supplies and ideas. I like the new blog look and the new name.

Michelle, Your art is very lovely! I can SO relate to what you said about living and breathing art. I am the same way. It would be great if we didn't require sleep at all! What an obsession...
