WHAT A WEEK!!

Hi everyone,

Sorry it has been a while since I have been on my blog or visited any of yours. I have been missing it terribly. I can't wait for things to settle down here so I can get back into my normal routine.

We have almost finished unpacking and are settling into the house, and all I can say is -

"I can't wait for the day we own our own home and don't have to deal with real estates anymore!"

What a nightmare I have been through! Moving is already a stressful time, but to have to deal with an unprofessional, rude and degrading property manager on top of it all has been very upsetting. Never have I been spoken to so rudely in all my life. She has abused me over the phone, made me feel like and idiot and called me a liar! Nothing seems to be going right at the moment. I am just trying to do the right thing and it just keeps blowing up in my face. I think this woman is on a power trip and can tell I am a quite person so she is taking full advantage.

I have also been dealing with a lot of tooth problems at the moment on top of everything else. I originally went in to the dentist to get my wisdom tooth looked at as it started coming through and was causing some pain. He referred me to an oral surgeon as it was too close to the nerve for him to remove it.

While I was there the dentist recommended that I get a filling in one of my teeth as there was some decay. I got the filling done but as soon as the numbness wore off later that night my whole jaw was throbbing. I took some pain killers which helped, but for the next five days it still continued to hurt and was very sensitive to hot and cold foods. I called the dentist back and they told me to come in right away and that I shouldn't be having any pain from a filling.

He then said I would need a root canal on the tooth to stop the pain. I found it weird that I didn't have any problems with this tooth before and now I needed a root canal! It's no wonder so many people hate going to the dentist. Any who, I agreed for him to do the root canal as I wanted the pain to stop and I really didn't have another choice.

(Fast forward) I got the last part of the root canal done the day before we moved, it has now been just over a week and I am getting really bad pain down the left side of my face and numbness that is spreading from my lip to my chin and is getting worse. I am so scared about it, and will be seeing a different dentist today. Obviously something is putting pressure on my facial nerve. I hope it isn't serious and that I didn't just fork out all my money for this root canal just to get it pulled out in the end :(

The worst part is he did another filling on the other side of my mouth and it is starting to have the same sensitivity to cold. I really, really don't want to go through another root canal. Especially with all the trouble I am having with this one.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? It would be great to find out what I may be dealing with. I have tried looking on the Internet, but can't really find much *sigh*.

---------------------

And since I always like to have a picture to go with my posts, here is a quick one we took yesterday after cleaning our old house -

Alex and I saying goodbye to our first house together

UPDATE: I went to the dentist yesterday and found out that the root canal I just got done has an infection that is putting pressure on my facial nerve which is causing the numbness. I am on antibiotics at the moment, but I will probably have to loose the tooth :(
The dentist who did the root canal left a gap at the base of one of the roots so bacteria is building up in there. I am really upset that I have just wasted over $1200 in getting it done, not to mention the painful process of it all. I am trying not to dwell to much on it though.

At least I still have my wisdom teeth, so the dentist said they would just replace the ones I get removed. I can't wait for this all to be over and done with. It has been a nightmare.

Thanks so much everyone for all of your well wishes, it has made me feel a lot better. Hopefully I will get around to all of your blogs in the next week to see what I have missed.

Oh Michelle how nice to see you post again. I have missed you! I am so sorry to hear all the problems you have been having with that property manager. The nerve of her being so rude to you! Maybe your Mom should get involved in the issue and see what is her problem. I get very angry when people that advantage of others. :(
I am happy that you are going to another dentist today to have your molars checked. I think that other dentist isn't very good if you are having pain after your root canal. I know some friends that have had root canals and they haven't had pain afterwards. Good luck sweetie!
I haven't email you because I knew you were busy and still are.
Please keep in touch when you can.

Hey Michelle, sounds horrible, all the dramas you have been through, so sorry to hear about it - I hope things settle down and life goes back to normal for you.

I have never had a root canal, I have only once had a tooth removed (as I refused a tooth canal) this was about 10 years ago, and then I ended up having a "dry socket" my whole jaw was inflamed and every tooth was in pain - I basically had to go back to the dentist for 5 more visits to have my dry socket 'cleaned and drilled' so basically I had a root canal, without a tooth - it was horrible and I HATE DENTISTS - luckily, that was my only drama with them.

Sounds pretty serious what is happening to you - go for a second opinion straight away, you will probably need x-rays done on your jaw - I worked for a solicitor who had a client, whose dentist broke off the root canal drill in his tooth root, and the drill bit was sticking into his jaw, horrible - he sued the dentist for it. Please have it checked out asap - could be serious. Fingers crossed!

Michelle, these are the pains I have. You poor girl, I really feel for you. Get some Diflam mouth wash, it is sold behind the counter. I buy this regular to keep the swelling down. I also buy Hymalaya tooth paste, this tightens you're gums really well and is natural.
I think it is these new fillings?
I have asked the dentist to see if anyone else is having the same problem with new fillings? They say no. I think they are covering up. I had a filling last year and straight after the injection wore off like you, My cheek face was burning pain, they wouldn't even give me a root canal in this country, spent nearly a year going to the top of the hospital and still said no. So went to Budapest to have it done and the pain in- between the two top teeth is fainting when touched. So I am left to filing it down slowly with a tile file so the dentists here will have to take it out. It sounds awful.
I had the bottom tooth wisdom taken out too first two years ago.

I think it is the top 3rd tooth that is the problem?
So check to see it is not transfered pain from somewhere else. Like a mind field trying to stop this ordeal.
Hope you get you're teeth sorted soon, Asprins seem to work better than paracetmols. Get dissolvable asprin's and chew them as near to your pain as poss. You maybe hurting stronger than asprin's.
Clove oil can stop pain on the tooth for about an hours so buy some of this also!
Sending you my love! Let me know if you need any advice or you have some for me.
If pain carries on go see a face specialist or neurologist, you may have nerve pain?

first thing, about the property manager: if she is working for a company complain about her. if she is working for herself there has to be someone you can put a complaint to about her attitude and what she is doing. if you have signed a lease stating the terms of your rent and she is arguing them, in most places that is illegal. contact a better business bureau for advice because she shouldn't get away with it

and second the dentist, good you are going to another dentist as that sounds serious. either the other dentist damaged a nerve or you didn't need a root canal in the first place and the problem was something else.

its a nice picture of the 2 of you in the empty house :) hopefully next week gets better!

Oh my! What misery you've been through! I think maybe it's time to get a second opinion on your tooth problems. It seems very strange to have the same results from the second filling and all that pain. I hope you get some relief from it soon.
As for the property manager, maybe she'll visit your dentist and get a filling like yours!
Feel better, dear heart.

Michelle I forgot to tell you, it maybe a piece of bone? While they take the tooth out it sometimes breaks the bone in between the two teeth? See if you can look at the xray yourself, as not all dentist look at this, it took 5 months for my dentist to realize mine (how bad it that?) So check yourself. look very closely to the side of the next tooth along were you had your wisdom tooth removed. If there seems a shadow or white line.
Thew I have been waiting for hours to get back home and tell you, just incase it helps. All the best!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
Oh, also, I was saying earlier about the 3rd top tooth on the side of my extraction. In between the 2nd and 3rd tooth is swelling, when I touch it it feels so much pain. Go around your gums through the middle of your teeth and see if you have any area's like this, you may get to the culprit much quicker than I have. The trouble is, I have had four teeth removed now and two root canals, they won't believe me with this tooth. I have told them and they think I am making it all up, like I am some kind of nut that enjoys having my teeth removed. You'll know, no one would want this. Dentists can be so harrogant!
Hope you have a good one!
Bless you!
I think I am finished now, pooof!

did you have the wisdom tooth removed? Was it on the same side of the face as the numbness you are experiencing now? Sometimes a nerve can be traumatized in removal.. or is the root canal on the same side? ...hard to say too much about it all without seeing or knowing more of course... but, I would go back to the surgeon if the tooth was removed and talk to him about that part of things. I think I would get a second opinion on the root canal tooth as well...do you have a specialist nearby... they are called Endodonists...they do only root canals... they should be able to give you the full lowdown on how the root canal was done..if it is done properly and what the problem is. It could be something as simple as the filling he put in is a bit too high for your bite... or it could be that he popped a bit of the root canal material out the tip of the root.... either can be fixed.... try not to have it pulled except as a last resort.... loss of teeth just cause other problems later... The reason for a filling leading to a root canal.. is that it was deep and/or some heat or closeness to the nerve in doing the filling may have traumatized the nerve. It might just have meant a few more weeks of waiting for things to settle down....or perhaps it was beyond just a filling. So many variables really....

get second opinions and do a bit of waiting... and make them check your bite to see if the tooth is a bit high. Even having work done or infection around a tooth can cause it to become a bit loose in the surrounding bone for a while...and cause it to rise up out of the natural bite...only micromillimetres of course, but, it can be enough to cause it to be hit before any other tooth and that can cause pain or soreness to the whole area....

I have some permanent parasthesia caused by nerve damage while trying to have an implant done in the old days...they are so much better now and the dentists are so much more clever...but, it is only a problem..and only sometimes... when eating.... I can't always tell if I am dribbling...hhahahha...and am a big hit at parties.... it is not noticeable to look at though....

Does that dentist really have certification?
Good luck with the new dentist, I'll be thinking of you!

Ah, that real estate agent really needs to take some happy pills.
Why don't you send her some in the mail, she may think about the next person she is treating badly.

Michelle, what terrible news! I am so sorry to hear this.

I have to say, I never trust dentists anymore. A good friend of mine ended up working for a dentist and found out the dentist I went to for so long as a child was *reknowned* among local area dentists for being a screw-ball and a drunk and doing shoddy work they had to fix later. And it turned out my teeth showed evidence of that much later on.

My brother-in-law was told to have a root canal by one dentist, and another said it wasn't necessary! So I don't know what to tell you about the actual need for your root canal.

I'm going to try and send healing energy your way. It's a long way from here to Brisbane, but I'm pretty sure the energy doesn't mind long distances.

I also understand about the move. Isn't it so emotional and so hard? But I think yours will be a beautiful and happy home... just be gentle with yourself as you settle in :)

Oh Michella! I am so sorry you are having to deal with botched dental care and a nasty property manager!
That dentist should refund your money and the property manager should be whipped for treating you so badly.

I hope things start getting better for you and all the problems in your new home are quickly fixed. Big hugs to you!

Mary Engelbreit used to put out a magazine called Home Companion that always featured artists and just gave the best inspiration. You should check out her website and see if she has some past issues... not sure. Thanks so much for telling me about my posts not showing up. I've been trying to figure it out but I'm having the hardest time. If you notice it suddenly showing up would you be so kind as to give me a nudge? (Sorry for the long comment) I hope you are getting along better! Miss seeing your posts!

eeek, I had to speed read through all that dentist drama! I cant stand it....I get goose bumps. I also have the same problem with property managers, the office stole $500 rent, and are bullying us to pay it again! its all bad news, renting and dentists. Lucky you have your beautiful talents to focus on, and I hope your studio is up and running to your liking so you can do some nice things for yourself now!
